Finca Genoveva Caiño 2022

The nose of the 2022 Finca Genoveva Caíño is something else. This is paler and a lot more fragrant, floral, aromatic and elegant than any of the other Caíño bottlings (and I tasted it next to two others). It's a wine with an ethereal quality and fragile balance but full of energy and light. It's a symphony of dried flowers, herbs and spices, intoxicating and showy, with a fine-boned palate with pungent flavors and great purity, focus, definition and symmetry. It has to be one of the finest vintages for this superb red, one of the best in Galicia, if not the best. This also ages like heaven. It comes in at 12.6% alcohol and has 7.65 grams of acidity. 2,000 bottles were produced. It was bottled in November 2024 after a long élevage, 12 months in a neutral 1,500-liter foudre and a further 12 months in 500-liter barrels.
