The 2022 El Puntido, selected from the property that names it, fermented in stainless steel and matured in new French oak barrels for 16 months and six more months in tank. Like many 2022s here, it surprised me with its freshness, balance and harmony in such a warm and dry year, with red fruit, which they attribute to the cooler terroir of Laguardia where the vineyard is. It has the customary 14.5% alcohol, with a pH of 3.73 and 4.8 grams of acidity; it has slightly dusty tannins without the velvety texture of longer-cycle years like 2021, but it's still quite remarkable. 40,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2024.
