The 2020 La Maldición Malvar en Bota wants to show the solera system used in the zone in the past. It fermented in Sherry butts (550- and 650-liter ones) and aged under a layer of flor yeasts for four months. It matured in the casks for 10 months. It has an amber color and an oxidative nose, concentrated through evaporation; the style from the past drove the wines toward the style of Amontillado, with more oxidative than biological character, as the flor period is quite short. The palate is bone dry, chalky, round and with a stronger sensation of limestone and salt, which is also concentrated from evaporation. 2020 was a very warm and ripe vintage, and the wines have higher alcohol (this has 13.5%). Yields were also lower, and the wines are more concentrated. This is quite unique. 1,800 bottles were filled in July 2022.
