The red 2023 Matadiablos was produced with Tempranillo from 2.5 hectares of vines planted in their village in 1997 (their youngest vineyard) with a massal selection from their family vineyards. The vineyard is located at 826 meters above sea level, and in 2023, it received organic certification. It was produced like yesteryear—foot trodden and fermented with full clusters and indigenous yeasts in a 18th-century lagar pool and aged in 3,000-liter oak vats in a 15th-century cave. It has a fruit-driven nose, Tempranillo-driven, with notes of berries and spices. It shows contained ripeness, with 13.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.48 and 5.2 grams of acidity. It's medium-bodied and has abundant, slightly grainy tannins, with a little rusticity that speaks about the lagar and the full clusters. 5,700 bottles produced. It was bottled in December 2024.
